About Us
I'm always amazed at the incredible variety of colors, shapes and textures available to make jewelry out of. I'm not one who puts a lot of meaning or significance to the details of what I make - I just take what God made and use it to make something that gives me, and hopeful others, something that is a pleasure to look at and soothing to the spirit. Jewelry making is therapeutic for me; it's soothing, relaxing, and when I get tired of one direction, there's always a new one to follow.
At a young age I made trinkets out of colored gymp, learning how to braid it in different ways to get different shapes. I also made braided leather horse bridles but wasn't drawn to making jewelry until I was living in Hawaii. From simple beaded pieces, to chainmaille, wire wrapping, and using higher end gemstones, there's a never-ending progression of pretties to play with, new ideas to try, and techniques to learn.
I ended up with such a huge collection of stuff that I started doing a couple juried arts and crafts fairs each year. I now do 5 or 6 fairs each summer, and work at developing my online business. I also do some wholesaling.
I love what can be done with metals and have wanted to take some classes in metalsmithing for a long time, so I'm hoping to do more with that in the near future. A couple of years ago I took a class in making lampwork glass beads. As much as I enjoy it, I don't have a great setup for proper ventilation, so I'm limited to torching in good weather until I can maybe hopefully someday have a real studio!
